While during his early years he received some level of assistance from his own parents and eventually tutors, his lack of ability to fling spells made them decide to take different approaches. Being a noble meant Valric had the opportunity to take part on events dedicated to the wealthiest; naturally the activities he went after involved dueling. The idea was to push him in situations that could force him to use his magic to gain the upper hand, but even so those plans didn't work. Each failure only resulted on more pressure being added both on his parents and consequently himself due to the expectations of carrying their legacy. One last attempt was given; this time with a relic given by his parents; a spectral weapon, in theory he should be able to at the very least channel his magic through it. While in some swings the effects were visible, it was all too clear he wasn't quite there yet, but now the guild knew exactly what to do with him; send him off to practice in dangerous and proper situations. The rumors of Uhambra being an awful mess didn't go unnoticed, and with the Guard Force recruiting new faces, this was the perfect opportunity to put Valric's skills to the test. At that point, he didn't question it anymore, if this was something necessary to be able to wield magic, he was fully willing to commit to it. Or at the very least that was his main reason at first, but during the little time he spent in Uhambra, his attention turned to the crimes on the streets. It was all too clear this place needed guards doing their job proper, so while the guild was important, being able to deliver justice was going to take priority.
